First Look: Fegve Air Ring Spin
The FEGVE Air Ring Spin has a few things going for it. Firstly, it's a ring spinner, which is one of my favorite types of spinners. IF you're not familiar with ring spinners, they offer the dual functionality of being able to essentially wear the spinner as a ring while spinning it or insert what is known as a slug which turns the spinner into a more traditional ring spinner. The Air Ring Spin upon initial inspection looks like it operates a little differently from normal ring spins. The ring style bearing, a 61803 stainless steel bearing in this case is held in place by a retainer and can actually be removed in favor of a 688 hybrid ceramic bearing which can then be slid into the spinner.
Usually, as I mentioned, a motionless slug is inserted into the center of the ring bearing and held in place radially to convert the spinner into what we're used to calling a more standard spinner. My guess would be that removing the 61803 ring type bearing in favor of the smaller 688 bearing is going to give yo much better performance when using this as a standard spinner. A nice concept for sure. I'm always a fan of modular design.
The second thing it has going for it is that it's available on everyone's favorite retailer of the future Amazon. Opinions may vary on whether that is a positive or negative, but I really do like the ease of Amazon for all my online retailing.
The Air Ring Spin has a brass body with stainless steel weights and is available now for a shade under $150.
